A Parks Person, Through and Through
For 30 years I've hiked and biked the East Bay's regional parks — they're where I walk my dog, take my photographs, and clear my head. I'm running for the Park District Board because I want the parks we love to thrive for the next generation: resilient against climate change and wildfire, welcoming to every community, and managed with care and common sense.
I spent 30 years as an engineer and communicator in the IT and semiconductor industries — building products, leading teams, and translating complicated problems into plain language. That's the job of a Park District director: listen carefully, weigh the evidence, and explain the decision honestly.

Four priorities guide how I'd serve on the Board — drawn from decades in the parks, not from politics.
Climate Resilience
Mitigating the effects of climate change on our parks — tree mortality, sea level rise, and wildfire prevention — with reforestation, native vegetation restoration, and pragmatic fuels management.
Parks for All
Expanding equitable access for all communities and abilities — better outreach, transportation connections, educational programs, and recreation opportunities, so more people see the parks as theirs.
Financial Stewardship
Strong, transparent stewardship of taxpayer resources — a pragmatic mix of bonds, climate-resilience grants, philanthropy, and fair fees that go visibly back into the facilities people use.
Conservation & Recreation
The District works because protecting nature and connecting people to it reinforce one another. I'll keep that balance — conservation and recreation as partners, not opponents.
Self-funded. No contributions. No strings. My campaign takes no money from anyone — not developers, not fossil fuel interests, not anybody. When I vote on the Board, the only interest I'll owe is yours. Questions? ebrpd-ward3@rebeccalewington.com
I Show Up for the Parks
Loving the parks is easy. Maintaining them is work — and I do the work: volunteer trail days like the Bay Area Ridge Trail Day of Service at Crockett Hills, crew-lead training at Joaquin Miller, tools in hand alongside the people who keep these trails alive.
That's the perspective I'll bring to the Board: not just what the parks look like from a trailhead sign, but what they take to maintain — and how much more we could do with a stronger volunteer network behind them.
